A 21-year-old man was accused of viciously beating a motel manager in Hemet and leaving him in critical condition Wednesday after being told he could not bring his dog onto the property, police said.
Trevel Warner was arrested Thursday and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury and elder abuse in the alleged attack at the Coachlight Motel at 1640 W. Florida Ave., according to a news release from the Hemet Police Department.
Witnesses told police that Warner brought his dog with him to the motel to visit a friend, the release stated.
When manager Hashmukhlal Patel told Warner that the dog was not allowed on the property he became enraged, police said.
Warner was accused of punching Patel in the head and face, and knocking him to the ground. Warner then allegedly jumped on top of Patel and continued to punch him an estimated 10 to 20 times before leaving the area with his dog, police said.
Patel suffered significant injuries and was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
